fragile things
I’ve had this idea since the last guy that I “dated” rejected me, which has now been a few months ago. He had given me one of these shells on one of our first dates and I kept it in my coat pocket. One of the nights after being rejected, while at a grocery story, I searched in my pocket for the shell only to find crumbs. The shell broke to pieces just as our potential relationship had.
I enjoy how this piece turned out. At first I wondered if I should have drawn the hand in a slightly different position in each frame but now I think I made the right decision not to. I wanted to show the shell crumbling on it’s own without any of my own, physical interference.
I am excited to continue practicing more comic-like drawings, for one day I will get my graphic novel idea finished and the illustrations started. One day!
